Device Manager Description
Device Manager is a web based software for Magic Leap 1 and Magic Leap One Creator Edition that allows Enterprise customers to manage identity, devices, and apps on devices. You will need to purchase one Device Manager license for every device you plan to manage using Device Manager.
Purchasing Device Manager
Device Manager is currently available in the US for Enterprise customers through the Magic Leap Enterprise store. It can be purchased on its own or as part of the Magic Leap 1 Enterprise Suite.
Activating Device Manager
If this is a new Device Manager purchase, please see below. If you already have Device Manager and are just adding licenses, then no action is required.
New Device Manager Users:In order to activate your Device Manager purchase, please email Magic Leap at care@magicleap.com. Magic Leap will request the additional information listed below:
-
If you haven’t done so already, you’ll be forwarded and asked to sign the Magic Leap Enterprise Service Agreement, this user agreement may be viewed in advance here.
-
You will be asked to choose a domain for your Enterprise account (see below for "how to choose a domain")
-
You’ll be asked to choose an OKTA administrator for the OKTA portion of your Enterprise account, the administrator's email must have the same domain that was identified in bullet above.
-
You’ll be asked to choose a Device Manager administrator, this person must have the same domain that was identified in bullet 2 and it can be the same person as bullet 3
How to choose a domain:
- Domains must be privately owned
- Anyone with the same domain who also uses Magic Leap secure sites (such as id.magicleap.com) will need to be added to OKTA as an end-user by the OKTA administrator
- Anyone with the same domain who uses Magic Leap devices will need to be added to OKTA as an end-user AND will have to have their Magic Leap Device profile, provisioned and managed by the Device Manager Administrator
- You have the option to choose an alternate domain or subdomain to avoid impacting other users in your organization however you will be responsible for creating that new domain; Examples are @company.ml.com @ml.company.com @company.demo
When we deliver Device Manager, you will receive an email with an activation link to OKTA which is a third-party identity management solution used to manage authentication.
Okta administrators will need to set up users in the Magic Leap provided Okta instance and add a group to the users that need admin access to Device Manager to create and manage profiles. You may add as many Device Manager admins as you would like. See here for instructions.
