With Magic Leap OS 1.1.0, Magic Leap 2 includes a web browser. The browser is currently in beta.
Features
The web browser supports navigating forward and backwards through your current session's browsing history, refreshing pages, stopping currently loading pages, and managing settings like cookies and javascript support. The web browser displays sites at a resolution of 1065 x 616px. Files can be downloaded from the web browser and saved to your device — you can use this to download Magic Leap 2 apps.
Note: Currently the Magic Leap 2 browser doesn't offer features like tabs, multiple windows, or bookmarks.
Settings
To access the browser settings, hover over the vertical "..." icon and click the "Settings" dropdown that appears.
Downloads
In the version of the web browser made available from Magic Leap OS 1.3.0-dev1 onwards, there is a downloads page that lets you view current and past downloads.
Installing Apps with the Browser
To download and install APKs from the browser, such as Assist, you will need to grant the app permission to Install unknown apps.
- From the launcher, go to "Settings > Apps & Notifications"
- Select "App Info"
- Scroll down the list of apps, and select "Web Browser (Beta)"
- Select the "Advanced" menu option, then select "Install unknown apps"
- Toggle "Allow from this source" to on
Congrats! Apps downloaded with the web browser can now be installed from the folder you downloaded them to.
Scan a QR Code
Starting with Magic Leap OS 1.2.0, the browser now has a QR Reader shortcut. Click the QR code icon next to the "..." icon.
You'll be asked if you want to leave the browser app to open the QR Reader. Select "Yes, scan code".
