Introduced with Magic Leap OS 1.8.0, Fundamentals walks you through AR concepts, Magic Leap 2's hand tracking, and using the device's included controller. Upon completing first-time setup of the device, you'll be prompted to try out Fundamentals, however it can always be accessed from the device's home menu.
Upon starting the app, you'll be greeted by a menu with three options:
Upon completing a section, a green checkmark will appear in the corner of each option. You can always retry a section later for a refresher.
Intro to Augmented Reality
Intro to Augmented Reality introduces you to basic AR concepts and how they work on Magic Leap 2.
This section only uses hand tracking, and if you're using a controller you will be prompted to put it down.
You'll start by walking around, seeing small white orbs spread through out your space. Eventually, a larger pinkish, purple sphere will appear in your space. Walk towards it and then using your hand and following the instructions, poke the sphere.
The sphere will "explode" to six smaller shapes. Poke all of them to continue. Note: Some shapes may appear outside your field of view. After finding and poking all six, you'll then poke each pyramid again. Afterwards, you'll hold your hand out and watch as the shapes return to you, combining into a cube.
Finally, the cube will extrude into a cross shape. Walk towards the sphere and notice as different visual effects appear the closer you get. As instructed, poke the extruded cubes.
Congrats! You've now finished the "Introduction to Augmented Reality" section.
Hand Tracking
Hand tracking walks you through basic gestures with the Magic Leap 2. This section does not use the controller. Follow the prompts, using the gestures shown in the app, to proceed with each step. If you do not see a digital outline around your hand, hand tracking may not be working.
Controller
The controller segment walks you through the different functions and capabilities of the Magic Leap 2's controller - the uses of the different buttons, the track pad, and how to execute short cuts for capturing content. You will need to connect your controller for this segment.
