Compute Pack LED Guide

The compute pack on Magic Leap 2 can show anywhere from 1 - 5 LED dots. Different combinations of these dots and colors communicate different statuses about the device. While in normal operation, you LEDs will not be displayed on the compute pack.

 

Power Status LEDs

LED Meaning
Compute Pack Boot-up, five white LEDs light up from left-to-right in an arc

Compute Boot Up

Compute pack is waking up.
Compute Pack On, a single solid green LED

Compute On

Compute pack is on.
Compute Pack Standby,a single green LED fades in and out

Compute Standby

Controller is in a low power state ready to go into sleep mode.
Compute Pack Sleep, a single white LED fades in and out

Compute Sleep

Device is in sleep mode.
Compute Pack Shut Down, Five white LEDs fade out in an arc from right to left until no LEDs are on

Compute Shut down

Shut down starts with a long press of the power button.
Compute Pack Critical Battery Charging, a single LED light flashes red and white while the compute is charging at 5% charge

Compute Critical Battery Charging

The LED will pulse white and red when the compute pack is charging and the battery is 5% or less.
Compute Pack Critical Battery, a single solid red LED the compute pack has 5% or less charge

Compute Critical Battery Unplugged

Compute pack battery is critically low at 5% or less.

Compute Pack is Charging at 100%, 5 White LEDs blink

Compute Pack is Charging at between 76 and 99%, 4 White LEDs blink

Compute Pack is Charging at between 51 and 74%, 3 White LEDs blink

Compute Pack is Charging at between 26 and 50%, 2 White LEDs blink

Compute Pack is Charging at between 6 and 25%, 1 White LEDs blink

Compute Charging

  • Five LEDs show the battery level is at 95-100% and charging.
  • Four LEDs show the battery level is between 76–94% and charging.
  • Three LEDs show the battery level is between 51–75% and charging.
  • Two LEDs show the battery level is between 26–50% and charging.
  • One LED shows the battery level is between 6–25% and charging.

  • Five LEDs show the battery level is 95-100%.
  • Four LEDs show the battery level is between 76–94%.

Compute Insufficient Charger

An insufficient charger is being used.

  • Five LEDs show the battery level is 95-100%.
  • Four LEDs show the battery level is between 76–94%.
  • Three LEDs show the battery level is between 51–75%.
  • Two LEDs show the battery level is between 26–50%.
  • One LED shows the battery level is between 6–25%.

 

Controller Pairing LEDs

LED Meaning
Compute Pack - BluetoothPairing, individual LEDs light up blue from left to right while pairing process takes place

Compute Bluetooth Pairing

Compute pack and controller are pairing.
Compute Pack - Bluetooth Pairing Success, all five LEDs flash blue as bluetooth device is paired

Compute Bluetooth Pairing Success

Compute pack and controller have successfully paired.
Compute Pack - Bluetooth Pairing Failure, all five LEDs flash blue, then red

Compute Bluetooth Pairing Failure

Compute pack and controller have not paired.

 

Update LEDs

LED Meaning
Compute Pack Updating, a single white LED rapidly flashes while the device updates

Compute Updating

Update is in progress.
Compute Pack Updating Failure, a single LED rapidly flashes white and red when the device fails to update

Compute Updating Failure

Update has failed.
Compute Fastboot, LEDs switch between two white LEDs and three white LEDs

Compute Fastboot

Device is in Fastboot.
Compute Pack Recovery Mode, three white LEDs flash rapidly

Compute Recovery Mode

Device is in recovery mode.

 

Other LEDs

LED

Meaning
Compute Generic Success, an action has succesfully been completed

Compute Generic Success

Device successfully completed action. This is paired with other patterns to confirm the action is successful.
Compute Generic Failure, a single red LED blinks when an action has failed

Compute Generic Failure

Device failed the attempted action.
Compute Pack is side-loading content, the leftmost LED blinks white, then the rightmost LED blinks white

Compute Sideload

Device is using the Magic Leap Hub to sideload an APK.

Warning LEDs

LED Meaning
Compute Pack - an incompatible charger is being used, a single red LED blinks

Compute Incompatible Charger

An incompatible charger is being used.
Compute Pack Thermal Warning, all five LEDs flash red

Compute Thermal warning

Device needs to cool down.
Compute Pack Thermal Fault, the leftmost and rightmost LEDs flash red

Compute Thermal Fault

Overheating has caused a fault.

Compute Pack Hardware Failure, the three right LEDs blink red

Compute Hardware Failure

A hardware failure has occurred.
Compute Software Failure, the three left LEDs blink red

Compute Software Failure

A software failure has occurred.
