Magic Leap 2 does not include a built-in app store like the Magic Leap 1. Applications must be installed via solutions like the original Magic Leap Hub or Magic Leap Hub 3.

Installing Apps

Via Magic Leap Hub

Apps can be installed via Magic Leap Hub. You'll have the option to install the app system-wide, or per user, if multi-user mode is enabled. Select "Install App" to install for the current user, or "Install App for All Users" to install for all users on the device. Global app installation is only possible with Magic Leap Hub or using an MDM.

From the Device Bridge dashboard:

• Click the purple "Install App" button to open your operating system's file explorer.
• Browse to the .APK you're looking to install, and click "Open" to begin the installation process.
• While the app installs you will see a UI element like below. Once installation is complete, it will disappear. You should now see, and be able to launch, the app on your device's home menu. Any other users it was installed for should also see it while  using the device.

Via Magic Leap Hub 3

From the "Device" screen, click the "Apps" icon on the left-hand side menu. 

• At the top of the screen, click Install to add an application from your desktop to your device
  
  • In the file system explorer that pops-up, navigate to the directory containing the .apk you wish to install, select it, and press "Open"
• A window will open showing the transfer progress, once complete you can exit the window

• If you want your application to automatically launch after installation, you can click the downward facing arrow in the box to the right of the Install button

  • This will open a menu that lets you choose "Install and Launch"

Uninstalling Apps

On Device

Devices can be uninstalled via the Settings Menu on your device. From the Settings menu, select "Apps". Scroll and find the app you wish to uninstall and select it. On the app information page, select the "Uninstall" option to uninstall the app.

Via Magic Leap Hub and Magic Leap Hub 3

Apps can be uninstalled via both versions of Magic Leap Hub.

For the original Magic Leap Hub from the Device Bridge dashboard:

• Click "Apps" to see a list of currently installed applications.
• If you wish to uninstall an application, find the application's package name in the list and click on it. A panel will appear on the left-hand side, including an uninstall button. Click uninstall and follow the prompts.

For Magic Leap Hub 3, from the device screen:

• Click "Apps" to see a list of currently installed applications
• Find the application's package name, click the arrow and choose "Uninstall".
  • You can uninstall multiple applications together - click the checkbox next to each one, then click "Uninstall Selected."
