Once you've prepared your Magic Leap 2 for use, it's time to power on the device and set it up.
Power on your device - press and hold the power button on the Compute Pack until the LED lights begin to illuminate. Put on the Headset.
After a boot-up animation plays, the Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE, for short) prompt appears. It's time to complete OOBE.
Out-of-Box Experience
Stating with Magic Leap OS 1.8.0, OOBE starts with instructions on using hand tracking, or connecting and using the controller. A controller can be connected at any stage during the set up process. Previous OS versions require a controller to complete setup.
Pairing and Updating the Controller
Press and hold the Home button on your controller until you hear a tone and see the LED light appear. If the LED light is blue, it isn’t paired. Directly connect the Controller to the Compute Pack using the USB-C to USB-C cable included in the box to fix this, like in the animated image above.
Caution: Do not disconnect the Controller until you’ve fully updated and paired it with your device.
Select Language
After pairing your controller or going through some basic hand-tracking gestures, you'll be prompted to select your language. English is selected by default.
Prescription Inserts
If you have prescription inserts for your device, add them before continuing.
Software License Agreement
Read and accept the Software License agreement. You can also enable the Software License Agreement to be prompted again later.
Enrollment
If you have a QR code to enroll in a device management solution like VMWare WorkplaceONE, select the "Scan QR Code" option to scan the code and enroll your device. Otherwise, you can skip this step.
Device Lock
You'll be prompted to create an optional passcode for locking your device when not in use. You can skip this step and set it up later, or proceed to setup a 6-digit PIN.
Wi-Fi
As the final setup step, connect to Wi-Fi. Not an option right now? Press "Skip".
You are now ready to use your device, and if running Magic Leap OS 1.8.0 or later, will be prompted to try out the Fundamentals app. Refer to our User Guide for more helpful articles.
